Melbourne’s Science Gallery commissioned Fold Theory to support the presentation of artworks in their BREAK THE BINARIES show, “a playful and kaleidoscopic view of identity and genders, and their relationship with science, technology, culture, race, sexuality and creativity,” which ran from 18 February to 17 June 2023. The cardboard shopping cart and the ornate frames were assembled without glue, but with the help of some re-usable metal clips concealed from view, and the ovoid 2D graphic was pinned to the wall. The elements are intended to be demounted and reinstalled in the future. At the end of their useful life they are completely recyclable.
